Avedon Portraits2

This photo reminds me of an "Avedon style" portrait because of the expression of the subject, the prominent eyes, and the white background.  I really like this portrait because of the facial expression and the lighting.  Right before this photo was taken, I intentionally took the subject's phone away from him, and he looked right at me with this face!   I love how this photo shows the emotions of the subject.

This photo reminds me of an "Avedon style" portrait because of the expression of the subject and the prominent eyes.  I really like this portrait because of the facial expression.  The subject was very nervous about taking this shot, and constantly kept on laughing.  I finally told him that he should picture himself on a stage in front of his whole school, and his eyes just popped.  This photo really shows how the subject is feeling.

This photo reminds me of an "Avedon style" portrait because of the expression of the subject and the prominent eyes.  I really like this portrait because of the facial expression.  The subject was very serious in most of the photos that I took, and they weren't too interesting.  I told him to try to make a small little smile, and this is the smile he made.

This photo reminds me of an "Avedon style" portrait because of the expression of the subject and the prominent eyes.  I really like this portrait because of the subject's expression.  The subject was trying to make me rush because he had to leave.  The subject was thinking about all of the homework that he had to do.

This photo reminds me of an "Avedon style" portrait because of the expression of the subject and the prominent eyes.  I really like this portrait because of the facial expression.  Right before I took this photo, the subject had a gymnastics accident.  He was going for a hard skill on the horizontal bar, when his hand slipped and he fell hard on the bar.  His whole body was scratched and the subject was not feeling in the mood to take this photo.  I told him to take his emotions and put them into this photo.  I like how this photo shows how the subject is really feeling.

Favorite Assignment

I like this photo because of the contrast between colors and the silhouette of the mountains. It demonstrates the rule of thirds because one third of the photo is filled with the landscape, while the other two thirds consist of the vibrant sunset. I edited the photo by saturating the colors so they would stand out. I think that this adds to the photo because then the difference between the black and the reds is even more prominent than before.

I like this photo because of the distinction between the clarity of the leaf and the background. This allows the red leaf to stand out and the background to "dissolve." It displays foreground/background by having the leaf in focus and the wall with branches out of focus. I edited the photo by saturating the color of the leaf, making the red stand out amongst the grey. You are also able to more clearly see the green and purple which makes up a considerable amount of the leaf.

Micro Worlds

The first photo is where my story begins. It is a beautiful day as a woman walks her dog. The dog has been home for many hours so he is very anxious to relieve himself. The dog comes across a tree. What he doesn't know is that the tree is a city landmark. There is a photographer taking pictures of the tree and when this beautiful woman with her dog comes over, he is immediately drawn to her. He introduces himself and this becomes the start to a wonderful relationship. This photo shows foreground/background. The foreground of the photo is blurry, while the background of the photo is in focus. This technique adds depth to the photo. It also displays the rule of thirds. It doesn't strongly show the rule of thirds, but it is definitely there because the top horizontal two thirds of the photo shows the characters while the bottom third of the photo shows just cement. The line on the wall in the back of the photo shows leading lines, which help make the characters stand out.

This photo takes place after the woman and man have been dating for a while. One day, as the man is walking his girlfriend's dog, he starts thinking about how this dog is coming between them. While the man is talking on the phone with his girlfriend, he does not notice the dog, and trips over him. The man becomes very angry because he believes that the dog tripped him on purpose. The dog apologizes by licking the man's face. The man feels that he and the dog are finally bonding. The man thinks that having a family with the woman and the dog would not be such a bad idea after all. This photo shows foreground/background. The foreground of this photo is in focus while the background of this photo is blurry. The yellow shirt of the man and the orange color of the dog stand out in this photo.

The third photo shows that the man and the dog are finally getting along. The man, woman, and dog are now one big happy family. This photo shows foreground/background. The foreground of this photo is in focus while the background of this photo is blurry. The yellow shirt of the man, the blue dress of the woman, and the orange color of the dog stand out from all the other colors.

This photo shows that the dog is off to do his business once again. This photo shows the rule of thirds because the dog is in one third of the photo and the man and woman are in the other two thirds of the photo. The color of the dog and the clothing of the man and woman really make them stand out and draw your eyes to them.

Rule of Thirds

This photo represents the rule of thirds because two thirds of the photo is a concrete wall that is in focus, while the other third of the photo, which is out of focus, is the scene on the right. I really like how the sun's brightness makes the wall stand out and look shiny.

This photo demonstrates the rule of thirds because one third of the photo is a brick wall, and the other two thirds of the photo shows a sidewalk and a street. I really like how the tall trees and cars parked on the street show leading lines, as well as the sidewalk.

This photo represents the rule of thirds because one third of the photo shows a pole with beautiful bright yellow and red leaves, while the other two thirds of the photo is a sidewalk. The sidewalk shows repetition and leading lines.

This photo demonstrates the rule of thirds because one third of the photo shows a cement wall and the other two thirds of the photo shows many plants and leaves. I really like how the bright colors of the plants and leaves can catch the looker's eye.

This photo represents the rule of thirds because two thirds of the photo shows a cement wall and the other third of the photo shows plants and leaves. I really like how the cement wall stands out, and looks a little brighter than the plants and leaves.

This photo demonstrates the rule of thirds because one third of the photo shows leaves and the other two thirds of the photo shows a sidewalk and cars parked on the street. The cars in the photo represent repetition, and the sidewalk represent both repetition and leading lines.

This photo represents the rule of thirds because one third of the photo shows a branch of a tree that is out of focus, and the other two thirds of the photo shows a street that is in focus. The cars in the back of the photo represent repetition. I really like how the sun's brightness makes this photo stand out.

This photo demonstrates the rule of thirds because one third of the photo shows a wooden stick, and the other two thirds of the photo shows houses, trees and a street.

Aperture Priority Setting

This picture was taken with the aperture priority setting. I really like how the leaves with the web on top are more in focussed and defined than the leaves in the background.

This picture was taken with the aperture priority setting. I like how, even though the picture is not bright, the leaves are in focus compared to the blurry branches in the background.
